Periodontist Burke VA
Dr. Christine Karapetian
A Periodontist Burke VA residents trust, Dr. Christine Karapetian graduated from New York University College of Dentistry and also received a certificate in Periodontics from NYU. During her residency program, Dr. Karapetian had extensive training in implant dentistry and served as the chief resident for two years. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Karapetian attended James Madison University and received a BS in Biology with a concentration in Immunology and Microbiology.
Dr. Karapetian is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, and the Academy of Osseointegration. She has participated in several research projects ranging from the use of sinus augmentation biomaterials in surgeries, the relationship between stress and periodontal disease, and diabetes mellitus and periodontal disease. Dr. Karapetian has lectured at several meetings including the NE Implant Society meetings on the use of biomaterials in sinus augmentation surgeries.
Dr. Christine Karapetian is the co-founder of the Northern Virginia Dentistry and Dinner Guild, a study club formed to educate, promote, and foster interdisciplinary relationships between oral health care providers.
Dr. Karapetian is a native of Northern Virginia, growing up in McLean. Dr. Karapetian is married to David Treff, a pediatric dentist. She and her husband have participated in several outreach programs where they have traveled to different countries and provided dental care for the less fortunate. Dr. Karapetian enjoys reading and traveling. She is studying to become a better cook and is a novice foodie. As a trusted Periodontist in Burke VA, Dr. Karapetian looks forward to meeting you!
Registered Dental Hygienist
Vicky McHuen has been working in the dental field for over 18 years most of which have been in Periodontics. She graduated from the University of Bridgeport with a BS degree in Dental Hygiene. Vicky has worked on research projects related to dental hygienists and adapting to current technology and presented her findings to study clubs in California. Her focus throughout her career has been providing her patients with specialized consummate care and enriching their understanding of optimal oral health. Vicky is a dental hygiene instructor at Northern Virginia Community College and teaches hygiene theory and techniques. She frequently lectures on advance topics on dental hygiene and periodontics.
She is a big proponent of administering specialized care to those less fortunate or impoverished, volunteering much of her spare time to educating adolescents with special needs. She is currently a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and the Northern Virginia Dental Hygiene Association.
Vicky enjoys spending time with her husband Jason, two girls, and their two rescue dogs. She is proud to work with a leading Periodontist Burke VA.
Tracey D Sharkey
Tracey has been with Washington Periodontics as the Practice Administrator since 1998. She is originally from Leeds, England where she attended Sheffeild Polytechnic, receiving a degree in Hotel, Catering, and Institutional Management. Tracey went on to a career in hotels before branching out into Dentistry in 1998. Tracey strives to give patients the best customer care with her warm and friendly approach.
Tracey is an active member of Practice Administrator Leadership Solution (PALS) organization, whose goal is to educate and improve dental practices and empower Practice Administrators. She regularly meets with other Office Administrators and Treatment Plan Coordinators to improve patient care and help patients through their dental journey. Prior to joining Washington Periodontics Tracey worked for the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Tysons Corner, and has been implementing the Ritz Carlton way of customer service in our practice to make the patient experience a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.
After work Tracey is an avid traveler! She has traveled to many exotic and wonderful spots throughout the world, including Bali, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Austria, and the British Virgin Islands. Tracey is a HUGE animal lover, and has recently adopted two very adorable cats named Poppy and Saddie.
Implant Coordinator/Surgical Assistant
Robyn is our Certified Dental Assistant, with a degree from Applied Career Training in 2005. She is also our Implant Coordinator since 2010, but has close to 10 years of dental experience. Robyn also holds an Associate's Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation from Northern Virginia Community college. She enjoys volunteering in the community with the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic, Mission of Mercy, Street Light's Homeless Ministry, and as an ASL interpreter. Robyn is both CPR and OSHA certified. She not only enjoys assisting, but getting to know her patients and their families. Robyn enjoys the arts, attending as many musicals, plays, and other theatrical performances as she can!
Jonnie is our Treatment Coordinator, who joined the practice in 2016. She has over 10 years of experience in dental office administration and has a B.A. in Psychology from George Mason University. Jonnie works closely with Dr. Karapetian to coordinate surgical care for patients, and she enjoys helping patients improve their dental health through education and obtaining quality care. She is also a native of Northern Virginia, who grew up in Arlington. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, cooking, going to concerts, volunteering to feed the homeless, exploring DC, and spending time with friends and family.
