Welcome to Washington Periodontics
Welcome to Washington Periodontics! Dr. Christine Karapetian and our team are pleased to welcome new patients from Burke, Virginia, and the surrounding communities. Whether you have been referred by your general dentist or are seeking specialized periodontal care on your own, our goal is to make your experience comfortable, informative, and personalized from the very beginning.
We understand that visiting a periodontal practice may feel unfamiliar, especially if you are experiencing gum problems, considering dental implants, or have been told that you need specialized treatment. Our team takes the time to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and help you understand your oral health. We want you to feel confident and well-informed as you make decisions about your care.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
Your first appointment allows Dr. Karapetian to learn more about you and evaluate your periodontal needs. We will review your dental and medical history and discuss any symptoms, concerns, or treatment goals you may have.
Depending on your individual needs, your visit may include a comprehensive evaluation of your teeth, gums, bite, and supporting structures. Existing dental records and diagnostic images may also be reviewed when available. Additional imaging or diagnostic information may be recommended when necessary to develop a complete understanding of your oral health.
After your evaluation, Dr. Karapetian will explain her findings and discuss appropriate treatment options. You will have an opportunity to ask questions so you can better understand any recommendations and what to expect moving forward.
Personalized Periodontal Care
No two patients have the same needs. Treatment recommendations are based on your individual oral health, concerns, and goals at our office.
Dr. Karapetian provides specialized periodontal care focused on maintaining the health of the gums and structures that support your teeth. For patients experiencing tooth loss or considering tooth replacement, treatment planning may also involve dental implant care when appropriate.
Our approach emphasizes careful evaluation and individualized planning. If your care involves your general dentist or another dental professional, coordination between providers can help support a comprehensive approach to your treatment and long-term oral health.
Preparing for Your Appointment
Being prepared can help make your first visit as efficient and productive as possible. Before your appointment, gather any relevant information about your medical and dental history. Please be prepared to provide a current list of medications and information about health conditions that could affect your dental treatment.
If another dental provider referred you to us, please bring any referral information you have received. Recent X-rays or other dental records may also be helpful if they have not already been sent to our office.
You should also bring your current dental insurance information, if applicable, along with any other documents requested by our team.
Your Questions Are Welcome
We presume informed patients are better prepared to participate in decisions about their periodontal care. If there is anything you do not understand about your diagnosis, recommended procedure, expected recovery, or ongoing maintenance, we encourage you to ask.
Our team will guide you through the process and provide information about your next steps. We want you to leave your appointment with a clearer understanding of your periodontal health and the options available for protecting or rebuilding your smile.
