Our Dental Sedation Options
We match your sedation level to your emotional and treatment needs.
- Local Anesthesia: Location-specific numbing to prevent pain during procedures.
- Nitrous Oxide: Inhale a clear, odorless gas that works within a few minutes. Known as “laughing gas,” it helps lift worry while you remain fully conscious. Since the effects leave within minutes, you can drive home right after your appointment.
- Oral Conscious Sedation: Take a prescription pill before your appointment to reach a deep state of relaxation while staying awake.
- Intravenous (IV) Sedation: Deep twilight relaxation delivered directly into your system through an IV. It’s ideal for complex procedures or high anxiety.
Who Can Benefit From Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation transforms the appointment experience for anyone who struggles in a dental chair. It may be helpful for those with any of the following:
- Severe Dental Anxiety: Panic or dread at the thought of dental visits.
- Low Pain Tolerance: Hypersensitive teeth or gums that make standard care uncomfortable.
- Reflex Issues: A sensitive gag reflex that makes swallowing or working in the back of the mouth difficult.
- Complex Treatment Needs: Multiple or extensive procedures planned.
- A Hard Time Sitting Still: Difficulty Staying Still: Physical pain or joint stiffness make long sitting periods incredibly hard.
Preparing for Dental Sedation
For a smooth visit, follow these basic steps:
- Arrange for a trusted adult driver to take you home if receiving oral or IV sedation
- Do not eat or dink for 6-8 hours before IV sedation
- Wear loose, short-sleeved clothing so we can monitor your vital signs
- Disclose all current prescriptions and medical conditions during your consultation
- Follow all other pre-appointment directions from the dentist
